What is a belt conveyor?
A belt conveyor carries material continuously on an endless belt running between drums. Its basic components are the drive drum, the tension drum, carrying and return idlers, the belt, the frame and the drive unit. The drive can be provided by an electric motor or a hydraulic motor.
Use in road construction and mining
Main applications include moving aggregate from feed bunkers to the drying drum at asphalt plants, transferring material between screens and stockpiles at crushing and screening plants, aggregate feeding at concrete batching plants and truck loading in stockyards. Compared with handling by bucket it provides a continuous, regular flow that needs less labour.
What to consider when choosing
The type and particle size of the material, the required hourly capacity, the conveying distance and height difference, the belt width and the inclination angle determine the sizing of the conveyor. Whether the structure is fixed or portable is also selected according to the way the work is organised. Contact our team for a suitable configuration including drive and hydraulic components.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which materials can a belt conveyor handle?
It is widely used to handle bulk materials such as aggregate, chippings, sand and soil. Particle size and moisture affect the choice of belt and inclination.
How is conveyor capacity determined?
Capacity depends on belt width, belt speed, material density and the inclination angle. When the hourly requirement and the conveying geometry are shared, suitable sizing is carried out.
What information should I share when requesting a quote for a belt conveyor?
The make and model of the carrier vehicle (or the towing unit), the type of road and work, the daily workload and any existing hydraulic equipment define the configuration. Dimensions and capacities are determined together with our team.
